The fingernail jammed against Eva's teeth is nearly nonexistent at this point. A habit of her childhood, the nail biting has gotten worse since becoming a scholarship student of Morgana Academy. So has the skin picking and the irritability. The sweats and the shakes. Along with withdraw she hadn't wanted to face comes the bone-crushing and mind-numbing sensations of classmates' emotions. It comes with the knowledge that the girl across the hall from her is devastated by the off-handed comment her roommate had made. That the girl she passed on her way to programming actually feels enthusiastic about the break up her friend is going through.
She doesn't stop chewing at her nail until she reaches her destination and pulls out a spare key. She enters the apartment of Professor Lincoln Tierney as if she's meant to be there instead of in her data structures and analysis class. Slamming the door shut, she shouts, "I can't take this, Linc!"
