under the covers // taeyeon
the calming blues of morning light cast a cool hue over their sleeping bodies, tangled underneath the sheets after a night spent together. all is perfect; the whispers of crashing waves in the distance, the uncorked bottles of champagne and abandoned glasses, and the lingering scent of vanilla candles lighted before last night’s dinner.
but watching yonghwa in the morning was like watching a caterpillar undergo metamorphosis. he sleeps like a starfish; sprawled across the mattress with an an arm laying limp across taeyeon while a leg dangles off the bed’s edge. goosebumps crawl along his arms as the chilly seabreeze tickles his neck.
he’s still dreaming as his body tosses and turns.
somehow, he’s pulled every last blanket and quilt-- including the bedsheet itself -- and wrapped it around himself. his clumsy feet nudge the princess to the corner of the bed so he can have more room for his nest. he curls up inside his bundle, lost underneath a mountain of fabric, and isn’t visible except for the top of his head and the bottoms of his toes.
he mumbles in his sleep.
with a final murmur, the rosy-cheeked merman completely disappears underneath the blanket cocoon and out of sight.
