Up || Daehyun x Youngjae
This definitely was the stupidest thought he had ever allowed himself to have.
“I need to go up myself, the last things the scavengers brought down didn’t even work properly and I had to throw half of it away... It’s a waste of time and effort.” He remembered his own words, he had said them just about one or two hours ago, however didn’t exactly expect that he’d have to take someone else with him when he spoke them. Wouldn’t he be fine by himself? Honestly, going alone was what he had been aiming for at first, but the Lieutenant General insisted. “I don’t want to take someone from the military who I know I can’t trust. And their trust toward me is just as little, it doesn’t sound like a smart thing to do.” But neither had he expected the possibility that, after a bit of arguing back and forth, they’d offer him to take someone else – someone he himself was allowed to pick. And the last thing he had expected was his own response to the question who he’d like to bring.
“Yoo Youngjae.”
Daehyun discontentedly dragged himself to the door of said man, a simple human, and definitely someone he didn’t exactly like – and who didn’t seem to like him either. They rarely talked, only if they must, even though their rooms were pretty close to another and thus, he already regretted his decision, thought that maybe some of the people of his kind he knew would have been better for that job – accompanying him to the topside to find resources for his work.
Honestly, the only reason why this someone Yoo Youngjae popped into his head before anyone else was because the man had muscles, so he knew that he was strong. He didn’t know much about him other than that he was a digger and that he felt a strong dislike toward the Afflicted. Not that Daehyun particularly cared about the details, it wasn’t something uncommon after all.
Somehow, the blonde felt it was necessary to straighten out his dark blue top a little; it was sleeveless, however, his arms were covered by a grey sweat jacket that had grown rather loose on his body – he had lost a lot of weight recently. He was wearing simple jeans, had changed earlier before he went to Jung Hana's office to speak his request, so at least the dirty work clothes were off and the impression he’d leave wouldn’t be all too bad, he hoped. Because if he had to go with this guy, he wanted to start it the right way.
But seriously, if it wasn’t so much trouble, he’d just go back and change his pick.
He lifted his hand, making a light fist and took in a deep breath. His cheeks puffed out slightly when he exhaled audibly, and he knocked on the door, waited. Daehyun didn’t expect anything, didn’t even expect him to open – or if he did, to get the door shut in his face again. The lack of interest in each other was mutual, so he wouldn’t even blame him if he did.
