ok ALSO there’s a football folk-legend around an old german footballer fritz walter (this is from the first world cup that germany won in 1954 era) -- but he was the captain of germany at the time and got sick with malaria during the war, and the theory was that because of the malaria he could only ever really play at the top of his game when it was raining. well it turned out that it just happened to rain during the 1954 world cup finals and walter played phenomenally and captained us our first world cup.
so now whenever football matches are played in storms it’s caled “fritz-walter-wetter” and it’s supposed to bring good luck to the german teams playing.
