Two girls can’t even go paddle boating without slander

06.07.18. // The abandoned boat house. The old lady that lived here died recently. Her family owns a lot of the land nearby. My papa used to indicate (when he was alive) that the man who owned all the land started off very low and quickly rose the ranks and earned all this money, that he was getting it illegally somehow. Who knows if that’s true, or speculation.

The house she lived in looks very abandoned. The windows are barred for hurricanes, or break-ins. The old boat house is unused and collapsing. We visit it every time we come here. There’s a satellite dish, an overgrown greenhouse. I want to go inside so badly, but it’s too risky. On this trip, we paddled into the boathouse. I took a video of it.

06.07.18. // Headed out in the paddle boat on the bayou. My parents got a new puppy, she’s a mess. It was early, but not too hot yet. I started taking photos inside a water proof bag to protect my camera, and I liked the dreamy soft focus quality of it, so I kept taking photos like that the whole trip.

06.07.18. // Paddle boating out into the bay. I want to cross into the swampy lands, but my dad says its dangerous... I want to go anyway. It’s a military base. There’s a lot of alligators and snakes out there. Unpopulated by people.
