Just to add to the discussion: I don't dislike Paris Hilton for her style, lifestyle or career choices. In fact I think she's done very well for herself. The reason I find her unsavory is because she's made some very racist comments about black and Jewish people. Personally I think that you can appreciate the good things that someone has done while also decrying the bad. You don't necessarily have to take a firm black-and-white stance on someone's whole character. In fact, I'd advise against it.
I don’t condone those comments at all, she totally deserves criticism for that
Examples of her racist statements include this video (there are a couple other stories of her calling some black designers the n-word and her saying that “she cant stand black guys”)
Obviously, my first comments about her being harmless were ill researched and making sweeping assumptions and I apologize for that. Obviously people aren’t just black-and-white as far as how ”good” they are and she is far from innocent. It is entirely possible for me to appreciate her work in Repo! and her charity work while calling her out for her racist statements. I should have researched more and thought before typing and accusing people who dislike her of misogyny.
I was just trying (poorly) to make a point that hating her because shes rich, blonde, and had a sex tape released without her permission isn’t okay. Hating her because shes an ignorant privileged racist? Totally valid.
