2022 Sculpture Recap: Part 3

As I continued to work on the rock she sits on, I remembered that her left hand was sculpted to be braced on something and I had yet to line that up with anything. I had partially planned for this, having previously baked a long piece and set it aside. I still needed to create smaller rocks out of Apoxie Sculpt to brace it and attach it to the main rock, but I moved quickly to the initial painting phase.

By mid-June, I had decided on a color scheme for Cari, opting to go for a goat native to Greece. I started with a more saturated, warm brown, but found I was happier with a grey base and used a dry brush technique to apply tan highlights.

I used a similar dry brush technique to dark the stone > apply lighter, weathered highlights > give the effect of green moss/lichen. Almost all of this was done with water-based craft acrylic paints, except for mix of water, paste, and fake moss I applied at the end. I think these clumps could look better, but I am content with the approximation of realism.

She's almost finished here, but I had one more idea planned. Tune in at the end of the week for the last stage of this sculpture, before we move on to the next project!

Repaint of a Captain Marvel toy. I forgot to take a before photo but here's one I found online.

Tern got a minor repaint, not that the original was bad, just wasn’t *Tern*. Deleted majority of the white, though I left a collar. Looks nice. Redid the eyes to fix that googlie eye. Then went over some areas with a layer of Chameleon Storm Surge Green for iridescence.
