Bill Krisel's passing breaks my heart. The architect was a celebrity in my eyes. I loved his work, even as a kid, and his whimsical, airy and optimistic style greatly influenced my own automotive design aesthetic. I went to see him speak a few years ago, and waited to meet him afterwards. Like a nervous fan girl, I was giddy with excitement to talk with him, and he couldn't have been more gracious. He signed one of his drawings that I had purchased years earlier, and dedicated it to me, specifically. To this day, that architectural rendering hangs in my studio. I am saddened to see one of my inspirations depart, but like a true luminary, his work will continue to bring light and happiness, and inspire generations to come. A pioneer of the butterfly roof-line in modern suburban architecture, Krisel brought style and beauty to every day people. Here's to that majestic mid-century modern home in the sky you must be designing now. RIP Mr. Krisel. ❤️BT. #billkrisel #palmerandkrisel #palmsprings #midcenturymodern (at Palm Springs, California)
