Going through a love drought, top 6 ways to get through it alone!
Most people eventually will go through a point in their life where they have a longer than normal amount of time between men or women. They may have gone through a bad break up and decided to go their own for a while, or they just can't seem to meet anyone. Either way it can hurt the confidence when you don't feel desirable by the people you want to attract. But remember it happens to the best of us, and with the proper tools you can get through your drought with ease and leave it in a better mindset than you arrived.
Top 6 ways to get through a dating drought.
1. Recognize why you are in the drought in the first place:
Is work crazy? Did you break up with someone? Why did you enter this time in your life? Sometimes life goes by so fast we look up and haven't dated in 7 months. Recognizing why you think you have arrived in this place will help you get through it. Sometimes work takes top priority and you can focus on killing it at the office, or sometimes our hearts need to be the center of our attention and you can focus on fully loving yourself, but without proper knowledge you can't make any real moves.
2. Accept it:
Just because you are in a drought doesn't always mean you should immediately start looking for someone to be with, sometimes we need to sit in the moments we are in to recognize what's really going on in our world. Accept and embrace the drought, you are going to enter a time where you can fully enjoy all of your own awesomeness. Accepting your drought makes it a positive experience.
3. Embrace the alone time:
Since you are not focusing on the opposite (or the same) sex what can you do instead? Just about everything! This is the perfect time to take on a project. Remember all those DIY ideas you pinned about 4 months ago? Whip out the hammer and rope and work on creating that mini terrarium, take that online acting course, or go on that much needed sugar cleanse. When you are not out and about trying to socialize and focus on the opposite sex it tends to lead to a lot of extra time, use it well.
4. Don't feel the need to explain yourself
When people ask why you aren't currently dating you can answer them, if you like, but you don't have to. There is nothing sadder than someone who can never be alone, remember that. There is strength in spending time alone, and people who work on themselves ultimately make much better partners.
5. Come out of the drought stronger not lonely:
You don't really come out of a drought, you look up one day and there is rain. This is how you can easily recognize the difference between coming out of a drought and trying to force your way out because you are feeling lonely. When you take advantage of your time alone, when you truly enjoy yourself, you mentally, physically and spiritually attract people to you. You become a magnet of love.
6. I can't stress pampering yourself enough:
Take long baths, exfoliate, spend too much time taking care of yourself. Do all of this as an act of kindness and service for and to yourself, out of appreciation to your inner goddess and beauty. Don't think that pampering yourself is vain, you are honoring your temple, you are giving back to the body that gives so much to you. Don't just put lotion on, massage it into your skin, don't just eat your meals, make your dinners an experience. Eat on beautiful plates, take time, cook yourself something wonderful. When we surround ourselves with beauty we show the world how we want to be treated. How can you ask for someone to treat you like a Queen or King when you treat yourself like a pauper.
