Can’t draw anything for today so have just a boatload of headcanons
Dude has ridiculous legs. He’s a jumping bean fiend. This ain’t even a headcanon here, this is canonical af. We have that whole spiel about how tall Taako and Magnus are compared to Merle and Davenport would probably been around Merle’s height which means Dav just jumps! twice his height onto Taako’s back for that “illusions” bit??
Dav definitely has the “Captain’s Jacket as armor” sort of mentality but as an add-on? First time he goes to take off his IPRE jacket, everyone is gobsmacked so he illusions it to look like he had a second jacket on underneath just to mess with them.
Davenport keeps a captain’s hat in the glove box that he only wears when flying the Starblaster. Magnus was the only other person allowed to wear it when he learned how to fly the ship (Barry didn’t care), but Lucretia ended up wearing it along with some of the other crew’s stuff during her year alone.
You know Cap’nport’s wearing it during the final battle.
Davenport forgives Lucretia too early after Story and Song, knowing that he would eventually forgive her but it just ends up having a lot of bad days early on where he just has to leave (and usually Taako will hitch a ride).
Davenport doesn’t like relying on magic so his illusion magic is pretty much baby bones until he buckles down in magic land.
Davenport is very stiff and distant with people but after a hundred years, he’s very close with his crew and pretty open, which causes everyone whiplash when Cap’nport meets someone new and immediately goes back to “stoic professional captain davenport” until he’s back to being alone with them.
Davenport just cannot stand horses and no one understands why; it’s one of the few things he’s remained completely tip-lipped about. The crew only found out about ten-ish cycles in when a herd of horses came by when Davenport went to land the Starblaster and he almost knocked Barry off the bow with how sharp the u-turn was. (Besides that, everyone was shocked Davenport managed to avoid horses for so long).
Garyl and phantom horses don’t bother Davenport. On that note, Phantom Steed is an illusion spell and Davenport has summoned horses using it before but I’m not sure if he’d summon a full sized horse or a gnome-sized one- he never rides it.
Davenport seems to have a plus against horse based illusion magicks which came up more often than you’d expect during the stolen century.
Davenport is the only crew member small enough to fit in the air ducts of the starblaster, a fact he has made use of seven times exactly.
Davenport’s size makes certain weaponry difficult so he’s proficient with daggers (and I like the idea of sharpshooter dav but I don’t wanna draw that so he just throws daggers and darts really heckin well.).
Davenport taught Lup how to throw knives. It was a bonding experience.
The only people Davenport can cast disguise self and get away with impersonating is Merle and Angus (until he gets older) but there’s probably one mission where Angus gets taken captive and Davenport swaps himself with Angus and just wrecks shop as Angus.
Davenport is definitely too short for rollercoasters on any plane that has them so he has spite-built rollercoasters for himself because he’s an engineer dang it. What else is he supposed to do now that they found the light.
Post-canon Davenport helped a charity auction by offering to shave off his mustache. The winning bid was by Lucretia and Barry who begged him not to.
Davenport and Kravitz are not allowed to hang out together by themselves anymore. There is exactly a fifty/fifty chance they either talk about music and maybe see a show together or “adrenaline junkie” Davenport and “gambling problem” Kravitz go to a casino and lose the ship. Taako had to bail them out and never let them forget it.
Davenport picks up verbal tics and habits from the crew that Lucretia doesn’t manage to wipe completely. Most end up being covered by him only saying his name but “Merle’s constantly chatting to Pan about anything” has an unintended side effect... Cue Davenport mindlessly walking around at the BoB headquarters going “Davenport, davenport” to Pan and Pan is just leaning over in the celestial plane trying to figure out what this gnome’s deal is. But Pan is chill with it and that’s how Davenport accidentally multiclasses as a cleric and unknowingly makes the plants on the moon base grow very well.
Merle and Pan never let Davenport live it down once they all realize what happened. He still gets bouquets from Pan.
Davenport dies at sea. He’s old and doesn’t set off thinking, hey, I’m going to die, but Taako, Lup and Barry all insist on coming with and he can infer what’s gonna happen so he enjoys one last mission as their captain.
