Panchayat S1 E1 - Gram Panchayat Phulera

Note : I will try not to drop many spoilers and pictures.

As usual the trademark TVF scene in the opening. 

Our hero is waiting impatiently for the village to arrive and meanwhile we see the Flashback. 

Okay, now I know that our hero is also a victim of the engineering college placement scenario. His friend motivating him about his job profile is just LOL.

- “Swades ka Mohan Bhargav ban ne ka mauka mil raha hai tujhe”  😂 😂 😂 

Hero arrives at Phulera phiinally with his two wheeler, own gas stove and stuff. LOL. 

Yaas ! Phulera ko no. 1 banaana hai  🤝 🤝 🤝

I like the background score and the village looks lovely!

I have recorded some important information-- just in case, if I happen to visit Phulera  😂

Bechara Abhishek is roaming around for food in the village and as usual people ask him “Who are you?”

Villagers are quite curious and alarmed whenever a new person enters. I am telling this out of personal experience. They won’t let you know anything unless you let them know about yourself.

Panchayat by TVF

Panchayat is a comedy-drama, which captures the journey of an engineering graduate Abhishek, who for lack of a better job option joins as secretary of a panchayat office in a remote village of Uttar Pradesh. (source : Amazon Prime Video)

I loved this 8 episodes web series, because I could relate well to each and everything which was shown. My father was born and brought up in a city. My mother was born and brought up in various towns. Both my paternal and maternal families have their own ancestral villages but my father never visited his. My mother on the contrary often visited her village in her teens and is quite attached to her village (it is actually a Mandal, not a small village though). I was also born and raised in a city, but have visited my mother’s village quite a few times. I have observed many things which my mother fondly shared with me quite often about people, agriculture, politics, the community system of villages etc. Village folk are both intelligent and gullible, friendly and superstitious and still follow the caste system.

Panchayat immediately resonated with things which I heard from my mother and some which I have observed myself. Probably after YUDKBH, this was one series which I binge watched with my family. 

The protagonist, Abhishek Tripathi, unwillingly joins as a Panchayat Secretary in Phulera, Uttar Pradesh with a salary of INR 20000 because he has no other job on hand when he graduates. He starts preparing for CAT (MBA entrance test) simultaneously as he intends to get out of there and go back to city and do a corporate job which pays heavily. Now, whether he succeeds or not and what is his daily life in Phulera as a Panchayat Secretary like forms the rest of the story. 

P.S : For those who can’t understand what is Panchayat and what kind of a job is Panchayat Secretary --

Panchayati Raj refers to the local self-government of villages in rural India as opposed to urban & suburban municipalities. Under this system, every village has a Gram Panchayat (village council) whose head is known as Sarpanch or Pradhan. This council is divided into wards and each ward is represented by a Ward Member, also referred to as a Panch or Panchayat Member, who is directly elected by the villagers. The Pradhan is a decision maker, elected by the ward members as per the State Act. The Pradhan and the Panch are elected for a period of five years. The Sarpanch is the focal point of contact between government officers and the village community. The Panchayat Secretary of the panchayat is a non-elected representative, appointed by the state government, to oversee panchayat activities. The person is normally in charge of the administrative duties of the Gram Panchayat.
