10: What popular book do you just hate?
Feed by M. T. Anderson. My friend recommended it to me ages ago, and she generally has good taste in books, but I really disliked this one. I’m usually all about sci-fi, futuristic stuff (for example, Fahrenheit 451) but this one was quite all over the place and I couldn’t understand what was going on. I didn’t feel a strong connection to any of the characters, either. I wrote a review of it when I read it with some more of my thoughts. Also, Twilight, but I think that’s a given.
Ahhhh this changes every like three seconds, but right now, Simon Spier (Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda), Bram Greenfeld (SVTHSA), Leah Burke (SVTHSA), Abby Suso (SVTHSA), Kell Maresh (Shades of Magic), Lila Bard (Shades of Magic), Rhy Maresh (Shades of Magic), Septimus Heap (Septimus Heap), Jenna Heap (Septimus Heap), and more that I’ll probably think of later. Can you tell I love the Simon-verse and the Shades of Magic world a heck of a lot right now?
28: Least favorite characters?
First of all, Martin Addison (Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda). And… actually, just Martin right now. I don’t usually actively hate characters, but I often like some more than others.
41: Least favorite book turned movie?
Okay, every time I’m asked this question, I have the same answer, and it takes all of my willpower not to go on a full rant. PERCY JACKSON. I grew up reading those books; I think I read the first one in around 2007 (it was released in 2006) and I’m fairly certain I got it for free from one of those summer reading program things at the Barnes and Noble. Yup. I think between my sister and I, we own almost every single Rick Riordan book ever. We’re huge fans. So you can imagine my frustration when I sat down to watch the first movie with my friends at a camp overnight and EVERYTHING WAS WRONG. It got to the point when my friends had to tell me to shut up because I wouldn’t stop pointing out everything that was wrong. It’s fine as its own story, sure, but as an adaptation of PJO?? Insulting, both to the fans and to Rick Riordan’s incredible work. I will admit that the second one (which, first of all, why) was better, but not enough for me to stop being mad about this. The books are so wonderful, so do not let ANYONE judge the series and / or Rick himself off of the movies. Rant over.
Ehh, I don’t hate them, but when given a choice between an ebook and a physical book, I will always choose the physical book. The ebooks are definitely a nice convenience because I can just pull out my phone if I have a random block of time and read without having to worry about bringing the actual book with me. However, they do hurt my eyes after a while, especially when I read like three ebooks in a row (I did that recently). I also like to hold the book in my hand, and last time I checked, you can’t get an ebook signed.
