Here we go: Eddie once constructed a mechanical spider-helper named Steve. Its purpose was to fetch tools or coffee, or sometimes spying, just all types of stuff a criminal mastermind may need. Query and Echo found Steve unsettling due to his singular, glowing eye, so Edward "solved" this issue by programming a blinking animation :D Now Steve pretends to be asleep during the night, which I guess makes it a bit better? (not really)

Steve has a very complex, nanotech AI chip installed as his „brain” because Edward hoped he would just learn more and more useful tasks on his own, becoming an even better tool. It kinda worked, but Steve also developed self-consciousness and began suffering from existential dread and asking all sorts of uncomfortable questions like "what is the meaning of life? Why is defeating Batman so important?" Is fetching a T6 screwdriver really the point of my existence?" which made it awkward for everyone in the hideout.

opinions on soulmate aus and highschool aus?

Soulmate aus: C: Neutral. A good author might be able to sell it, but a bad one will kill it deader than dead. I like the concept of people fitting/complimenting each other perfectly, but so often it's just unrealistic. Either there's too much mischaracterization, plot convenience, etc. Like trying to put the star-shaped block into the circular hole by cutting off the edges.

When I do vibe with soulmates: the realistic/conflicting aspects of having to adjust to another person + acknowledging their partner's(s') flaws because the characters are meant be together. Or a dreadful "oh god, you're mine, aren't you?". Conceptually, I also like "we're perfect for each other(derogatory)".

Highschool aus: D: Not my favorite. I avoid it if I can, but it won’t necessarily put me off reading something. (maybe lower??) This is pure preference! I got into fanfic during early uni; at that point I had sort of outgrown high school focused work. I don't think there's anything wrong with it, I just don't find much enjoyment from it as an adult. Esp since I tend to read M+ works. If there's a highschool flashback/reference to a backstory (see: MoF Jonathan) set in highschool, that's fine, but I probably wouldn't seek it out. Fanfic trope ask here x
