A Papyrus Love Rant

The real papyrus (not concept Papyrus, oh gosh never concept Papyrus) is exactly what I want in a partner. Papyrus is the kinda guy that I would drag to a buffet because there’s a choose your own pasta section that he has to try, and then I’d come home a week from then and he’s made what I had gotten then. It doesn’t taste like the buffet’s, but it was made with love and Paps would have improved a lot from, you know, having someone give him some honest feedback, and I would happily praise him, and probably fluster him because as great as he knows he is, he often forgets that others honestly see him that way as well. While learning to perfect his culinary trade, or setting up something in an attempt to be romantic, he probably would mess up and catch something on fire. And I’d actually get to use a fire extinguisher. He would apologize for having made the accident, but I would be too hyped up for having been given a chance to play his hero. He would probably notice just how much that means to me, as I am a protector and would do anything to protect my partner. I have always wanted someone that thinks a date is building snow sculptures and doing puzzles because that’s what’s fun! I would take him to an arcade or a carnival to just hang out and play some games and win some prizes. I need someone who will join me in watching cartoons and reading books that are short and cute and exceedingly childish without judgement. Papyrus is the guy who will see when you are getting depressed and behind on your chores and huff with exasperation because he will not allow you to become like his brother and will start helping you out no matter what you say to dissuade him, and you’ll get up to start working with him because the last thing you want is for him to feel like he has another sibling to clean up after. He’s the kinda guy who gives people second chances and forgives without frustration, and I would look up to him every day as I see all he does for others and I would join him in helping out just to be a part of his greatness. He’s the kind of guy who needs some reminders here and there that he is just as great as he claims, who needs someone to stand up to bat for him when others start treating him as some naive thing that needs to be protected from the truth. He does need to be protected, but not from the ability to make his own informed decisions. He needs to be protected from those who would happily take advantage of him, those who would hurt him because he is unadulterated goodness and has the greatest love for others. Paps is beautiful without all the romantic acts, and I would go so far to say he is better without them. They would come off as stiff and awkward, and more like a disguise of what he really is. I do love the real canon Papyrus, and if I get lucky enough to find me someone even half as selfless and fun as he is, I will be truly blessed.
