“We need some help here,” Jay’s co-worker, Ronnie, called out as they entered the ER of the local hospital. It appeared to be a somewhat slow day, judging by the number of patients in the waiting room, but Jay had been to the ER maybe once since he got to Angel Grove so he couldn’t tell for sure. Right now, however, he was leaning against the large man, hopping on one leg and wincing every time he moved, because the pain in his shoulder got worse whenever he took a breath, let alone something more.
This was the last time he would ‘shoot some hoops’ with his co-workers.
They approached the nurse at the station and Jay started to explain the situation.
“We were at the basketball court, throwing the ball around, when I ran into this rock,” he gestured at the man three time his size who was the only reason Jay could now stand, even if it was his fault that he needed help in the first place. “I fell over, my shoulder hurts like hell and I can’t imagine standing on my left foot,” he finished the rundown of the events that unfolded, praying to God that nothing was broken because that would suck so, so much.
