GENERAL NOTES: Darren and Chris get aquainted
Chris was shocked when he found out Darren would be his potential on-screen love interest. He'd been a fan of Darren from the first day of AVPM, and if not for his business, he'd be much more of a fanboy. Time was restricting for him, though, so he had little time to himself. Chris woke up happy, excited to meet Darren. So maybe he got up earlier to make sure he looked as cute as possible. Darren was probably straight, but hey. Worth a shot. Chris knew he'd have to turn into Kurt moments after his arrival on set, but honestly, it didn't matter. Not at all. He stopped by his favorite coffee place to pick up a couple drips - remembering the hazel creamer in one. He arrived on set with a smile, half of the coffee in his stomach already. Locating Darren's trailer, he knocked softly, feeling a little nervous. Don't be a fanboy, Chris. Don't do it.
Darren had ended up arriving to work far too early. That was mostly because he hadn't slept the night and he wad driving Joey and Mia crazy pacing back and forth in the apartment . So he decided to come in and just get settled. He'd been met , shown to his trailer and been told an assistant wold be with him soon. He knew he should probably do something, but right now all he could do was sit in the middle of the room (on the floor) and take it all in. He closed his eyes and may have drifted off for a second. Hearing the door, he assumed it was the assistant and stood up, running a hand through his curls to try to tame them. "Come in.."
Chris broke into a wide smile at the sight of Darren, his stomach breaking out in butterflies. Good lord, this is Darren Criss. The Darren Criss. He took a deep breath, shuddering slightly on the exhale. "Well, what do you know," he murmured softly, slyly. "It's Harry Potter. Right before my eyes." He held out the cup of coffee, wordless towards it.
Darren his eyes widened a little as he saw Chris "Oh wow, it's you!" he blurted out, then cursed himself for how stupid that must have sounded. He laughed and shook his head "What I MEANT to say is, I was told an assistant was gonna stop buy, that's who I thought you were. But you're not, you're you!" he grinned a little at the Harry Potter remar and took the coffee from him "Wow, I cant believe Kurt Hummel got me coffee. How much am I owe you?"
Chris laughed softly at Darren's crazy monologue, able to hear the drastic sleepiness in his voice, his confusion. He found it pretty hilarious - and adorable. Nope, not adorable, actually. He pushes that away. "Yes, yes, it's me!" He laughed. "And you're you! And that's coffee!" He laughed again, stepping inside. "Oh, you don't owe me anything. It's a welcoming gesture. You could have lunch with me, though, if you want."
Darren: laughed along with Chris. It felt like a stupid thing to think, since they had only been speaking for less than a minute, but Darren got the feeling they were going to have agreat time working together, and he immeaditley seemed to put him at ease. "This is cofffee! Glorious coffee!" he took a sip and beamed at Chris "You remebered the creamer! Amazing!"
Chris leant against the doorframe slightly, watching Darren sip his coffee. He laughed at his reaction, nodding. "I sure did! I almost forgot, but I caught myself at the last second. And, ah, I accidentally drank a sip of yours, but hey - no cooties. I promise." He laughed, grinning at him. "Are you excited for today?"
Darren wandered back over to his space on the floor and sad down, crossing his legs and looking up at him with a grin "Hmmmm...i'll forgive you this once, but if I wake up with an extra head or something I'll be coming after you." he sipped the coffe, sighing in satisfaction. He nodded "I'm really excited, I can't wait, in a like...totally terrified kinda way!"
Chris couldn't help but follow him, plopping down on the ground in front of him, facing him. He grinned crookedly, shaking his head. "No promises. You might turn purple or something." He laughed softly, nodding happily. "Great! You'll love it. It's really just a party all the time."
Darren looked over as Chris sat beside him and smiled a little too himself. The fact Darren generally shunned chairs and preferred sitting on the floor was a quirk a lot of people found it weird so the fact Chris joined him was further proof they were likely to get on. "Hmmm, I think I could pull of the purple look." he turned and posed, as if prooving the point "Well, I can't wait to get started! I'm not gonna lie though, I'm completley intimidated by all of you.."
Chris smiled, crossing his legs and resting his forearms on his knees. "Do you like the floor?" he mused. "I like the floor." He laughed softly, shrugging a little. He was used to it. Having Hannah sit on the floor was easy during her seizure heavy times (most times) so Chris was accustomed to sitting on the floor with her. He didn't mind it at all. "You probably could," he laughed. "I can't wait either! Having Kurt meet someone new will be great. He needs a boyfriend." He knew what it was like to not have a boyfriend or someone to talk to. It sucked. If anything, he wanted an imaginary character to not be alone.
Darren beamed and rested his head against the chair "I do like the floor. I don't really know why, I just feel more comfortable." he rested his chin on his hands, "He deserves some happy times after all they've put him through! I can't help but thing the writers enjoy him suffering. You're just too good an actor, Chris!" he smiled "I wonder what'll happen with the whole 'Dalton' thing. Do you think Kurt will transfer? I mean, that would just be crazy.."
Chris smiled, eyes crinkling at the corners. "I like it too," he agreed softly with a little nod. "Yes, I completely agree. I think they've kept the storyline realistic for the gay teens that are watching, and we need to show them that they have just a good of chance of finding love as anyone does, y'know?" He shrugged, blushing at the compliment. "Oh, thank you," he laughed softly. "That would be crazy! I suppose it depends on how it all goes."
Darren Darren listnened intently to Chris, nodding "I agree, completley. So many teens relate to the show and i think it's really important Kurt gets a happy ending." he smiled, thinking about this "Hopefully Blaine can give him that." he bounced up suddenly, drinking the rest of his coffee and walking over to the mirror "I have an assistant coming to my trailer, which I find more than weird. What are the going to assist m ein? I'l be wanting to help them do things.."
Chris smiled slowly, a tiny fluttering in his stomach. Darren was so adorable, so pure in every way. He nodded in agreement, smiling. "I really hope so," he agreed, looking at his watch. "Ah, we should probably head out if an assistant doesn't show. I can show you around and everything. They probably just want to ensure that you know where to be." He walked over to Darren, smiling at him. "You ready?"
Darren Darrens eyes lit up 'Oh, do I get the VIP tour?" he asked with an innocent grin. He scrawled a note in case an assistant did come to find him, leaving his cellphone number. "There, now if they need me they can call me." he nodded to himself and slipped his feet back into his sneakers "I'm ready, lead the way!"
Chris laughed, nodding. "The insider tour from the actor's perspective!" he announced dramatically. He led Darren out when he was ready, leading him down the way. "My trailer's right next door, conveniently enough. Each door has a metal plate on it that says the last name of who is inside, so that helps you find who you need to find. Go down this road and you'll come up to the set - easy enough, right?" He smiled, walking with him. "Caterers set up over here-" he motioned "-and they have awesome food. Really awesome. Can't go wrong,"
Darren Darren tried to keep up, but he was so busy takign everything else in, he ended up getting confused "So, you go this way to the set?" he asked pointing to the direction of the caterers "And this way-" he pointed in a completely random direction "For food?" he looked around the set, his eyes huge and filled with exciment "Awesome!"
Chris laughed softly, stopping in his tracks and tugging on Darren's arm to make him stop too. "No, no," he giggled. "Listen. You turn out of your trailer and turn right, remember? You pass all the other trailers and straight ahead at the end of the road is the set. See that building? That the set." He looked at Darren, pausing briefly to let him process that information. "To the right is the catering. It doesn't really matter now since it's just a tent with nothing in it, but I'm sure you can just follow the scent of food - and me - to find it. I'll stay by your side all day, okay? I don't want you to get lost."
Darren only stopped when he felt the tug on his arm. He smiled sheepishly and back up a couple of steps to stand by Chris again. This time he listned to him, but his mind was buzzing with all the information "Okay, you're gonna have to keep me right, I have a pretty awful sense of direction, I have to write L and R on my hands when I learn dances sometimes." he shrugged and grinned "Consider me your official shadow for the next few days!"
Chris nodded, laughing softly. He understood Darren's confusion. Though he was blessed with a great sense of direction, Chris was very cognizant of other people's confusion at any given moment. "We'll practice all of this stuff later," he said. "Get the paths under your feet. We should probably head onto the set, though, to get makeup done and everything." He resumed walking then, giving Darren a sweet smile.
Darren Darren nodded, looked up as he tried to take in every little detail of the place. It wasn't like he'd never been on a tv set before, he'd filmed a few episodes of 'Eastwick' after college. But Glee was already so special to him,and the fact he could be a part of it was blowing his mind. He suddently realised Chris was still talking and he smiled sheepishly, just catching the end of his sentence "..make up?" he nodded "I saw my Dalton uniform when i visited the other day, it looked so cool." he beamed and followed him along
Chris smiled sweetly at Darren after he finished speaking, able to see plainly how flabbergasted Darren was from the whole set, the whole area - starstruck, even. "Yes, we've got to get camera ready," he chuckled. "Oh, the Dalton uniforms are adorable. I'm sure you'll look great in it. That's the thing for Kurt, though - he's not going to want to be stuck in a uniform every day, y'know?" He chuckled softly, walking inside the set building with him. "Alright, here we are. Everything you'll do at work will be in this building."
Darren laughed a little "I was born camera ready!" he teased, doing his best impression of a supermodel pose, tucking his chest in and shoving his shoulder forward, posing. He laughed and continued walked "I must admit, I can't even picture Kurt in that uniform, but i'm sure he'd make it look fashionable as ever, if he DOES end up as a warbler." he stepped into the set building and looked around with huge eyes "Woah.." he mumured, feeling completelty overwhelmed.
Chris laughed, hand on his stomach as he watched Darren do his dramatic model pose. "Of course you were," he choked out between peals of laughter. He calmed down, walking forth with Darren. "I can't, either, but I don't know. He could rock it." He chuckled softly, watching Darren's expression closely. "Don't pass out," he warned. "I might not be able to catch you."
Darren his face lit up when Chris laughed. Darren absolutley loved it when he made people laugh, it made him feel so worthwhile and gratified, even ifit was just by him being goofy. He looked around the set and pressed a hand against his face, laughing loudly "I won't, I promise. I just...wow. I think it finally hit home."
Chris watched Darren for a moment, looking around the set briefly himself. Chris had grown accustomed to it, in a way, but sometimes he was surprised he made it this far. Sometimes, reality hit. "It's pretty great, huh?" he murmured softly, barely resisting the urge to pat Darren's back sweetly. "C'mon, let's head over to makeup."
Darren: took a few minutes to finally take all of this in. He grinned and nodded, resembling an excited toddler as he followed Chris through the lot. "How long does make up usually take?" he asked, "I'm not great at sititng still.."
Chris laughed softly, his eyes sparking as he led Darren into the makeup room. "It shouldn't be a terribly long time, but I hear they're going to need a miracle to Blaine-ify your hair." He laughed, shrugging. "We'll see. You'll get used to it."
Darren put his hand up to protectivley cover his hair "That's what i was afraid of. I got my first hair cut in 4 years for Ryan, I just hope he doesn't do any more...private school boys can have curly hair, right?"
Chris was timed out 27 hours ago
Chris laughe softly, shrugging a little. "I personally hope they don't completely destroy it," he said. "Your hair looks very soft an fluffy. Wouldn't want that to go to waste, mm?" He led Darren into the room, sitting down in his usual chair. "You can sit beside me," he said. "We can get our magic done simultaneously!"
Chris: I'll be on sparsely for a couple hours then I'll be gone for a couple :/ orch concert!
Darren joined the chat 26 hours ago
Darren Darren grinned "It is! People used to stop me in the street and ask if they could touch it. To be honest I still find it very strange to look in the mirror with it this short." he sat down beside Chris, looking in the mirror. When a make up artist came over he smiled sweetly at her, and leant back in the chair, letting her work. He bit the inside of his lip, his toe tapping on the floor as he tried not to talk or move.
Darren: cool! my friends are heaidng over in about half an hour so i'll be off for a couple of hours anyhoo
Chris laughed softly, reaching up and ruffling Darren's hair. He couldn't resist. "Oh, it is soft!" he squealed. "They better not cut it off. I'll mourn the loss of it." He pouted, quieting as the makeup artist worked magic on his hair and face, still but calm.
Darren grinned when Chris touched his hair, laughing at his reaction "Well, I already had almost all of it cut off, when Ryan told me they needed me to do it a smalll part of my heart broke.I'm very attatched to my hair." he closed his eyes and tried to not move while the make up artist worked. There was a very real chance he dozed off for a while. When she told him she was done, he opened his eyes and looked at his face.He laughed a little and turned to Chris "Am I ready for my close up?!" he asked with a pout
Chris nodded, remembering the YouTube videos and concerts and pictures of a very fluffy-haired Darren. "I would be, too, if my hair were so great," he chuckled softly. He quieted as he was turned into Kurt, letting out a deep breath when he was finished. The makeup tickled his face, and he sighed. It was something he'd just never get used to. He looked over at Darren, letting out a soft laugh. "Oh, geez. You're the epitome of a schoolboy, to say the least."
Darren looked back in the mirror, as the make up artist left. He wrinkled his nose "I wanna touch it really bad.." he confessed sheepishly. He saw a hairdresser approach and he sat back. They seemed to be combing and tugging and spraying his hair for hours, thought it can't have been that long. Still, his hair felt as hard and uncomfortable as rock by the time they were done with it. He almost dreaded looking in the mirror and when he did, he couldnt help but laugh. "O...kay..."
Chris' hair required some mousse and hairspray - nothing terribly drastic, thankfully. His hair remained soft, not far from his usual 'do. He sat back, casually watching the hairdresser go through almost an entire bottle of gel with Darren's hair. When they were finished, Chris giggled quietly, hand over his mouth to mute it. "Wow. /wow/," he laughed. "You look... Hah! You're wearing a helmet!"
Darren Darren leant forward, prodding his hair "Ewwwwwww." he swiped his iPhone out his pocket and snapped a photo "My mom needs to see this." he explained, sendign the photo to his parents, his brother and Joey. He pocketed his phone and looked at his hair, laughed to himself "This is...wow." he snorted "My mom tried to gel my hair on my first day of middle school, by lunchtime my hair had broken through. I hope this stays a little better., or Ryan might not be happy.."
Chris laughed softly, crossing one leg over the other. "They'll add more gel between takes if it starts to break through," he said. "Have fun washing all that out every night." He snorted, shaking his head. Thank goodness he wasn't Darren right now. "C'mon, new kid." He stood, dragging Darren by the hand to costume (Klaine parallels be damned). "You have hair plastered to your head, but I basically have to wear five layers of bondage and awkward designer clothing all the time. It evens out."
Darren "More..?" he asked, his nose wrinkling "Wow, that'll be...sticky." he wasn't going to complain, no matter how strange this new hair do looked, he was just so grateful to have this opportunity. He laughed and caught hold of Chris sleeve,as they hurried over to the costumes "Hey, who knows what they have planned for the future." He didn't care how lame it was, when he saw his costume he felt his heart leap into his throat with excitement "Awesome!" he exclimed "You know, seeinf the oufiet again, the hair does make sense." he had to admit.
Chris reached his clothes rack with a sigh, taking out the hanger that contained his outfit for the day. Tight gray pants, patterned button down, gray coat. It was okay, he supposed, just... Involved. As usual. "You're lucky. You get to wear the same thing every day," he huffed. "So damn lucky." He looked at the dalton uniform, smiling a bit. "It fits. It really does. You're going to look great,"
Darren his eyes drifted over Chris' outfit "Woah that looks...uncomfortable. I suppose after Gaga everything must seem pretty tame." he stepped behind a partition and pulled off his tshirt and jeans. He tugged the trousers on and buttoned up his shirt, leavign the top button undone for now. He looped his tie on, and tried to tie it, tongue poking out between his teeth with concentration
Chris remained in the open space, as they were the only people in the room and he didn't care about changing in front of other people anymore, not his cast mates. It didn't bother him. It took him ten minutes to shimmy into the jeans, groaning in concentration. "I never get used to this," he groaned, standing shirtless as he tried to fiddle with the right buttons and buckles to get fully dressed. And so he remained that way when Darren exited the partition - shirtless in only skintight jeans.
Darren barely batted an eyelid, studying theater had made him prtty used to seeing people in all states of undress. He laughed a little, the warbler tie dangling around his neck "Do you need some help there?"
Chris blushed as Darren came in front of him, huffing a little bit. It wasn't that he was insecure. He was okay with himself, but around cute men... All confidence fizzled away. "Ah, I... I'll get it," he sighed. "But I have to fix your tie. It's driving me nuts." He laughed softly, awkwardly, reaching around Darren's neck to carefully tie the tie.
Darren noticied how all the confidence seemed to suddenly leave Chris, but decided it was best not to bring it up, after all they hardly knew eachother. He laughed "Yeah...I have to admit i've never been any good at them. My gryffindor tie had the same knot it it through two years of AVPM and AVPS." he smiled sheepishly
Chris took his time carefully adjusting Darren's tie, able to smell Darren's sweet cologne and just general boyish scent. He patted Darren's chest lightly when it was fixed, smiling at him. "There. That's better," he said softly before going back to struggle with his own clothes. "Maybe, ah, I could use a tad bit of help."
Darren smiled "You are a lifesaver! I'll try to keep this knot, but i may end up coming up to you to fix it, since you did such an awesome job." he nodded "Of course, what can I do?" he looked at the outfit "Damnnnn how do you even breathe in those jeans?!"
Chris laughed softly, nodding a little. "I'd be more than happy to be your official tier of ties,' he said with a noble inflection in his voice. "Ah, just... Figure out how the hell I can put that thing on." He huffed, looking down. "I can breathe fine. My dick can't." He coughed awkwardly, not really having meant to say that.
Darren burst out laughing, covering his mouth. He lifted the shirt from the hanger and passed it to Chris, still giggling away. "I can't believe Kurt Hummel just said dick.." and he started laughing again, tears in his eyes
Chris tugged on the shirt, teeth clenched to keep from doing something insanely embarrassing. "Darren, I am /not/ Kurt hummel," he said easily. "Believe me, you'll quickly come to realize that."
Darren passed him the jacket and laughed "I know! I think I've realised that already." he assured, beaming at him
Darren shook his head "You have to forgive me, I don't mean to be such a glee fanboy all the time."
Chris smiled, sliding into the jacket gracefully thanks to Darren's assistance. "I'd never be caught dead in these outfits when I was in school... I would've been dead," he chuckled. He softened at Darren's apology, smiling a little. "It's okay, Darren. I'm a tiny bit of a huge fanboy for you, too. It evens out."
Darren smiled "I went to prep school, so I had to wear a uniform." he looked down at the Dalton outfit and grinned "It's strange to be back in one again.." he shook his head, still stunned at Chris even knew who he was "Hey, we can be fanboys together!"
Chris nodded, smiling a little bit. Of course Darren was a prep school boy. "Well, at least it's routine," he countered. "I'd rather wear a uniform, though Kurt would beg to differ." He chuckled softly, grinning at him. "Hopefully it'll wear off soon enough so we can be normal old friends!"
Darren shrugged "It was totally fine. I mean, it was a catholic school so it was pretty strict." he laughed "Well, as strict as any school in san fran can be anyway...." he considered this and shrugged "I didn't mind my uniform, but i'm no Kurt Hummel, i wear whatever i have to hand that doesn't have food or coffee stains." he grinned at Chris "We'll get used to it soon, I'm sure.."
