Paranoid Android - Peter & Titus
Peter had never had a lot of money. His mom often carelessly turned it into alcohol and blew the rest away on frivolous things. He had been cautious about spending the sum he earned while being experimented on. It couldn't last forever though, and even after taking small jobs here and there, he was beginning to run low on cash. It was to be expected but he hadn't prepared himself to add another expense to his life before he was able to find a stable job. On his way to his last job interview, he managed to smash his phone to smithereens. Now he was in quite a predicament, he couldn't really afford to get a new phone but he needed one in order for anyone to reach him. The universe enjoyed playing cruel jokes on him so he wanted to be one step ahead of it and if it meant dipping into his savings then he would have to do it.
He made sure to know exactly where he was headed before he left his front door. Peter didn't want to get lost again. At least now there was nothing on him that could be broken, other than his own bones. Occasionally, he wondered if it would be faster and easier if he scurried through the town. People weren't often fond of rats though, no matter the advantages he always brought himself back to the same thought: He would just get stomped on. Peter carried his long limbs around with him, feeling almost as if they were more of a burden than anything else. How had he lived in the same body for so many years? He thought he had been comfortable in it but that was no longer the case. It was constricting and unnatural. Peter wanted to know if others felt the same way, but he hadn't gotten close with anyone yet. Getting to know people had never been easy.
The mall was awfully crowded as he entered it. He figured it would be because it was Christmas time, but that didn't stop him from feeling overwhelmed by the rush of people passing by. Peter tried to keep his mind focused, ignoring the smell of food stands and perfume shops, and push himself through the mall. He needed to make it to Best Buy before the store closed. Peter stood behind behind the glass windows, peering into the busy store. He sighed, if he stayed there then the mall was going to close and he wouldn't get a phone but at least he would avoid the holiday mayhem within. Peter mentally rolled his eyes at himself and then walked through the doors, he couldn't just walk away because he didn't want to deal with people. He tried to look polite, even throwing on a smile for those he passed, but it was obvious he was looking for something.
