OK. WORDS OF REASSURANCE TO MYSELF:
- the courses are going to require frequent work, but seemingly not intensive work
- we used to be very good at school and though we do feel dumber than ever, we must’ve retained some skills
- also we have ADHD medication now. that’s gotta help, right?
- everything is online with flexible due dates so as long as we don’t get Significantly Behind, we will have some wiggle room for days when we really cannot do it
- we do not need to get an A+ in every class. we do not need to get an A in every class. we do not even need to get a B in every class. we literally just have to pass.
- we have resources now that we never had before. we are in good therapy. we have a psychiatrist who is totally willing to get us any accommodation we might need.
- OUR DAD IS A LAWYERRR if we ever need help with understanding material or checking our work or something we have a professional on speed dial
- and, bonus: it will be a good excuse to step back on some family responsibilities when necessary. “i have homework” is a magical phrase
