Part of Devon wanted to be embarrassed for still living with his family, but it was just for the summer until he could move on campus. Even if he didn’t live with them, he would be in the house often, happily cramped up with all of his siblings on Sunday mornings before going to church for the day and coming back for dinner. His older siblings did it, and two of them were married, which just added to the usual chaos in the Young household. Except tonight was tamer, it wasn’t a Sunday, so the entire family was at ease. His older brother Casey and his wife stopped by for a moment before vanishing again. His mother was in the kitchen, quietly singing along to the radio while the twins rambled on and on about college and classes. Devon was personally sprawled out on the couch with the youngest, Payton, on his chest, while he watched the rest of the family play cards. It was just... comfortable. Familiar. He missed this. So, when the doorbell rang and the four dogs clamored in the direction of the front door, Devon hoisted himself up, leaving Payton on the couch despite her angry pout. He passed by the kitchen, seeing his mom mouth him a question of is that your friend? and he just nodded, straightening his shirt before he got to the door. He knelt down slightly to pull the dogs back before opening it up fully and beaming up in Cait’s direction. “Hey! Come in,” he said, pulling the dogs back enough to leave room for her. “Sorry, they’re... a bit much at times,” he said sheepishly, and once he had the moment, he straightened up and hugged her happily. “How are you?”
