#2118 - Lasioglossum (Parasphecodes)
A small, dead native bee I spotted on the hillside behind my friends place in Cooma - although given how steep and rocky the slope was, it's not THAT difficult to have the ground near face level.
There are supposedly 92 described species in this subgenus (all but one Australian, and the exception from New Guinea) but a monograph by Ken Walker and Kathryn Sparks that came out last month says that 69 of those are synonyms, 20 of them were males and females of the same species, three should be in a different subgenus, and still found eighteen new species to describe. That leaves 40 valid species in Lasioglossum (Parasphecodes).
