Ichigo walked with the guard of armed Quincy, following behind the man called Haschwalth through stone corridors. There was nothing else he could do. His sword had been taken by Yhwach, and his back felt bare without its heavy weight. Not that having him had helped. He'd been defeated. Utterly.
They reached a door and Haschwalth turned, issuing quick orders that Ichigo barely registered. Why bother? Uryu had betrayed them. His reasons were unknown, and even if a large part of Ichigo still trusted his friend to be doing what he believed best, it still stung. Uryu... If he hadn't seen his standing by Yhwach himself, he would've been enraged at the suggestion. Now, he was only numb.
He wondered where the others were.
The door was opened and he was marched inside. The room was larger than he expected, but as soon as he was prodded trough beyond the threshold, he could tell something was off about it. He felt drained, weakened and disoriented.
The walls that had been rough and dark into hall, were white and smooth. It looked like the sekkiseki that made up the wall around Seireitei, but he wasn't sure. It was dark, and four identical pallets rested on a thick wood frames a foot off the floor. One to each wall, paired with it's own set of chains set into the wall. They weren't cots really, but not beds either. He was secured to a wall with the chains that left room to lay, but not much else.
"His majesty would like to apologize for the accommodations. As it is, our ability to hold so many prisoners of such high reiatsu levels is limited. There weren't as many deaths as expected, but I imagine that will be remedied soon. You will be given more pleasant lodging after your reform and assignment."
The man sounded as exhausted as Ichigo felt.
Then the door was closed. He wasn't looking. There was the small whir that Quincy power sometimes made as the door was locked.
Ichigo leaned into the wall and slid down to the floor, burying his face in his hands. The cuffs around wrists irritated his skin. He stared at them. Then he closed his eyes and tried not to think at all.
