#parentoftheyear My kids are angry at us because we told them we would pay for an upgrade of their iPhones if they go to iPhone 7. (We all have iPhone 6s now.) Or we would pay $13 dollars toward an iPhone 8 (leaving them to pay us $7) or $13 toward the 8+ (leaving them to pay us $11). Evidently, it is a travesty! It is unheard of for kids to be responsible for helping pay for their electronics. And evidently, we just don't care 😂😂 #kidsbexpensiveyo! #parentinggoals #kidsbecrazy

Preschool orientation for Guv. It's been 15 years since my first preschool experience... at that time, I was young, and felt as tiny as my little girl- standing there amongst women- who I felt were superior to me, in someway. Older, wiser, waited.. and had their lives all figured out. With great jobs, cupcakes and smiles. I was just as nervous as Kyla Mesick. Wanting to grab her hand, and scream no- and run away too. I wasn't ready to fake it, bake cookies, or have conferences- much less volunteer and be part of this thing. It was new, scary, and thrust me into a world of Martha Stewart look a likes... Today, I realize- I was as naive as my age. No parent is perfect, has their shit completely together, or bakes the perfect fucking party favors. They aren't all amazing cooks, or any better at keeping their lives together- bills paid or homes neat. We are human, And parenting is hard. But we survive, and look back- at all the plans we had, pipe dreams we created, and the ways it should go. And guess what? We failed- all of it. I'm the best failure of all! In the best way possible. Everything that should've been, wasn't. Every thing I should've done, I didn't. And every bed that wasn't made- is perfectly unmade. Just as it should be. Life isn't a pathway of signs leading this way or that. There isn't an answer to every big question, there isn't always someone to hold your hand, and sometimes- your kids aren't who you expected- but they're yours. They're your hard work, your mistakes, your guidance, your battles. They've been your rock, your puddles, and your best and worst times. They push your limits and test your will. They make you question yourself, and that's good! They are your most important teachers. And, contrary to what you think- they are also helping you, grow up. You grow, learn, and live together. Life isn't over, education never ends. You NEVER know it all. So, as I take another walk to school- I put it out there.. if you have young kids- don't give them a plan. Don't worry too much. Don't save them from everything.. they need to be strong. Because before you know it, they deserve #parentoftheyear #kickass #youmadeit#motherfucker
