I live in PARIS!!!
So I've been in Paris for three days, and thought it was about time I started this blog, to keep you all updated on my time in France. I'm having a lovely time so far, the family I'm with are wonderful, and it seems like I'm living in a really great area. To start with, I'll give a sort of photo-tour of my apartment (which won’t take long as it’s very small!)
This is where I'm sitting right now, and where I spend most of my time while in the apartment – it’s a long bench with cushions on, so I can either lounge lengthways whilst watching Netflix, or sit at the table to eat, read, or write this blog.
This is my ‘kitchen’, it’s about 2 feet away from the bench/table. There’s a fridge, a microwave/grill, some cupboards and two electric hobs. No oven, which I’ll have to get used to, and not very much storage space, but as the street I live on is filled with food shops, I don’t think I’ll ever be too worried about running out of anything!
This is the view from the big window in the kitchen – it opens really wide, letting in lots of fresh air and natural light, which is great in a room this small. If I look down I can see the courtyards several storeys below, but usually it’s just a nice wall and a whole lot of sky.
This is my bathroom, a toilet and a shower with a curtain over the entrance, no door, and no sink. But then the kitchen sink is approximately 3 seconds away… There’s also a big cupboard on the back wall, and another little window.
This is where the stairs/ladder up to my bedroom are – opposite you as you walk in the front door, next to the kitchen counter. They don’t intrude into the space as much as you might think, and although I haven’t yet, I'm sure I’ll get used to climbing them!
It’s difficult to photograph my bedroom, as it’s such a small space, but this is my bed, a single mattress on the floor, with a very low ceiling. I was stood about 3 steps from the top in order to take this photo. On the opposite wall there’s a big shelving unit for my clothes, in front of which on the floor is the gap for the stairs, half of which is covered by a piece of safety glass. It looks a bit bare at the moment, because I am yet to purchase blu-tac to stick all my photos up with!
And just for context, this is the view from the top of the steps in my room! It may be small, but this apartment is really comfortable, and I can see myself spending many happy months here, although I’m always happy to stretch my legs outside, that is after walking down the 113 stairs down to street level.
