A couple of years ago D and I decided to visit the covered bridge county of Indiana we’d always heard about. They’ve a huge yearly festival in October but we didn’t go then - because crowds. TBH we were a bit underwhelmed. Of about ten or so bridges we checked out, this one was probably the most scenic and it had been rebuilt in the last decade after the original burned. I recon the signs about walking refer to horses.

‘Cross this bridge at a walk’ refers to horse traffic, as the rhythm of a trotting horse initiates a more destructive vibration pattern than that of a modern two-ton pickup truck.
