My gf when I have a weekday off from work: What’d you have for lunch today?
Me: A nap.

What "On Call" Workers REALLY Do.
I don't understand why part-timers shouldn't qualify for vacation or part vacation time. I work roughly 30 hours a week, so I'm TECHNICALLY not classified as full-time. However, my "on call" status IN REALITY puts me at closer to 40 hours per week which is full-time. But I don't get medical insurance. I don't get vacation. I don't get any PTO including sick days.
I also contribute to a monthly blog at work. None of my normal shift hours are dedicated to time on this blog. So I do this work on my own free time, away from work. As do most other employees who contribute. I have spent roughly 18-20 hours on the blog this month (still working on it). Uncompensated. I've also had to find all my own resources (i.e. camera, editing hardware and software, etc.)
So yeah, "on call" = actually full-time, but you don't get any of the rewards.
I love my job, but I can't help but notice this is a bit messed up. I have not had a break since graduating. And all this unscheduled, unpaid work makes it very hard to look for a full-time, professional position, and I could really use the break.
Apologies for clogging up your dash.
