Fear of Commitment...
Partner 1: "Let's get married!"
Partner 2: "What? Why?!"
Partner 1: "Why not? We've been together for a few years."
Partner 2: "Exactly."
Partner 1: "...what's that mean?"
Partner 2: "That we've been together for a few years, and I ain't going anywhere, so..."
Partner 1: "SO let's make it official!"
Partner 2: "Why?"
Partner 1: "Why NOT? Don't you love me?"
Partner 2: "Obviously."
Partner 1: "Then let's get married!"
Partner 2: "Don't really see the point of it..."
Partner 1: "Well, if you love me, and you're committed to me, then why not prove it and make it official?"
Partner 2: "Well, if you love ME, and you're committed to ME, then why do you need me to prove anything to you and 'make it official'?"
Partner 1: "...I'm starting to think that you don't love me enough, and you can't fully commit to me, or you'd just marry me."
Partner 2: "And I think you're not sure if you love ME enough, and you can't fully commit to me WITHOUT forcing me to marry you..."
Partner 1: "Well, if I'm afraid that you can BOLT at any time because you won't marry me..."
Partner 2: "Well, if you're afraid that YOU could bolt at anytime if I DON'T marry you..."
Partner 1: "..."
Partner 2: "..."
Partner 1: "...WELL."
Partner 2: "...y'see what I'm saying?"
Partner 1: "...well, I'm glad I know this NOW!"
Partner 2: "...we should've talked about this earlier, huh?"
Partner 1: "...well, I do love you, but I gotta go find somebody who's not afraid to get married."
Partner 2: "And I love you too, but you're the one leaving ME, so, I guess I gotta go find somebody whose idea of love and commitment isn't defined by a threatening piece of paper..."
Partner 1: "..."
Partner 2: "...because this would've been the part where one of us would get half of the other's money."
Partner 1: "...yeah."
