How much more money do I need to raise?
I have $32,000 left to raise for Phase 1.
What is Phase 1?
Phase 1 is a three-year internship (or as I like to call it, an apprenticeship) that started back in January of 2013 and is slated to end in June of 2015. The goal of the apprenticeship was to situate me in NYC for a couple of years so that I would be better equipped to church plant in Queens. With the help of outside support, I have been able to serve at two sister churches in NYC: Grace Fellowship Church and Astoria Community Church. At these two sites, I have been given the opportunity to hone my skills in ministry, and to also reflect on how God specifically wants to use me in Queens. By the grace of God, I accomplished a great deal and learned many valuable lessons, and I hope to continue to learn much more before the apprenticeship ends. Here is some of what I have gained and learned thus far:
Accomplishments:
Preach 35 sermons
Help create a youth group that meets every Friday night
Coach football at LIC High School
Lead a weekly group of spiritual seekers
Lead a weekly community group
Interact with countless leaders of industry to learn about church planting
Lessons:
I love preaching
I am a crying preacher
You need a huge heart for the Christian life, but an even bigger one for church planting
The importance and necessity of community
The necessity of humility
Conversions are truly miraculous
As Phase 1 comes to an end, I can say I have been tremendously blessed by my apprenticeship. This opportunity has been a godsend and I hope that what I have gained and learned will prove to be useful in the field and my future church plant. But as Phase 1 comes to an end, I will need more help.
