Breaking news, a sentient surveillance machine wishes not to be perceived! Double standards much? More at eleven!
(Much gratitude to a friend who volunteered to translate for me an Old English variation of the warning sign, which was challenging because of that one little problem called "nonexistense of the concept of videocameras at the time this language form existed".)
I lost the original "sitting in a gloom corner barreled by dark thoughts" meme and had to recreate it from scratch, but I find it kind of funny how Mensah seeing Murderbot and vise-versa has an instant mutual effect of "oh you're here everything's gonna be better now!"
i think the most impressive detail about their acquaintance is that both parties are actively working to prevent it from turning into codependency lol
A fancover for a very cool OC fic about deciding to give a shit about others (and about workplace safety), no matter the circumstances.
It is written by @jottingprosaist and you can read it on ao3, if you too would enjoy 50 000 words of ~two hundred overworked humans and one overworked SecUnit funnily fumbling around improving an old and decidedly haunted asteroid mine!
It took me 3 months (I started this in the beginning of March, when the second chapter of the fic came out... lmao I was progressing so slowly that I ended up modifying the details three separate times just to nudge the visuals closer to canon territory when something suddenly ended up being specified - like flashlight on the SecUnit helmet for example) and 16 hours of actual editing time (if you don't count the 3 hours I lost when I accidentally fucked up and reverted the file to its own earlier backup like a dumbass), but! I had finally finished!!! Yay!
And just in time, too. Fucks really had started clustering in my life recently, so I sorely needed something nice to happen - and making a funky picture for a text I really enjoy clarifies well enough, I think.
Anyway, here you can see a couple of additional drawings and my ramblings related to the process of working on this fancover if you want to, have a good day everyone, cheers!
Well, just look at all of those students learning and growing and messing around! One of them just stumbled upon a paywalled paper during their research and now makes first hesitant steps in the science of piracy! Another imprinted on non-euclidean geometries and became obsessed with developing a videogame using those as a base for worldbuilding! The third one attempted to smuggle DIY intoxicants onboard and has yet to discover what had you swapped them with!
Exciting, truly.
(p.s. kudos to @thoughtfulrxven for coming up with using the first six numbers of Earth's actual perihelion in km as hex code - #147098 - for ART's hue of blue! i still haven't managed to finish any big drawings where this would be really relevant but i do have some stuff lying around unpublished and i do plan to continue playing with this color. for now here's just a nice #147098 plain background)
How about this one scene of an asshole research transport. being overwhelming. as asshole research transports wont to do.
Barely a chapter earlier it nearly deleted a security system of another shuttle for asking too many questions instead of making any effort to cover its trails, so, uh, yeah, I wouldn't blame the bot-pilot for panicking
