"And you're certain an hour is the soonest you can send one of your truck out for me?" She asked, her tone exasperated. It had been her own fault really…leaving home before the car had been fully charged, but the call to come in to the local CIA offices for some kind of questioning had been sudden and unexpected and she just wasn't thinking. "Alright, well…The nearest charging station is nearly forty minutes from here so I suppose I don't have any choice. Anything you can do to get someone out to me sooner would be greatly appreciated." Of course she'd managed to find the only gas station in North America without a charging station. The good thing was there was a diner nearby within walking distance and anything was better than waiting around like a sitting duck looking like fresh bait for a kidnapping and homicide, though she could more than handle herself if called for her to do so. All the same , she reached inside the glove box and grabbed the pepper spray she kept there in case of an emergency.
As she gathered her things and began walking toward the diner, she frowned as a deep rooted ache rolled through her chest, her thoughts consumed with what the CIA could want with her after all this time. Maybe not showing up at their beck and call was the best thing that could have happened. Now she had time to reach out to her attorney and maybe ask her to poke around into things ahead of time. Long after an hour had passed, Jade was sitting at the counter at the Nickel Diner, on her third diet coke when someone had taken the seat next to her. Just barely looking up from her cell phone as she dialed the next tow truck company listed on her Google search, she said, "I'd stay away from the sloppy joe and onion rings but the peach cobbler wasn't that bad, even though it tasted slightly day oldish. No offense," she said to the waitress who was standing within ear shot. Then to the man sitting next to her added, "Do you have any cell signal? Mine doesn't seem to be working." @rathleague
