Late blooming ironweed. Walking in our pasture prairie this first day of October, I saw several of these pretty flowers. The hayed areas sometimes produce some late blooms that offer nectar for migrating butterflies. Ladies Tresses (Spiranthes). This common orchid is the only one I've ever seen on our property. In fact, it's the only orchid I've seen in the wild.
