I mean, I fully admit, my motivations for wanting to keep the Ironworks crew together are totally selfish: So I can keep writing stupid stories about ‘em. What fun group to write!

OPTIONAL SPOILER SECTION: Some thoughts (on Nero at the end of Sigma, which ya probably don’t care about and you’re definitely sick of hearing about, but anyway):

With his comments to Cid--and assuming he's getting at what I think he’s getting at--I think his heart was in the right place or at least somewhere in the vicinity. I think, after having worked with Cid for some time now, Nero can sense that the guy is just...in a bad way, and he really really really wants to help (maybe this is me viewing the situation through the lens of a natural optimist).

But I also think he has a fundamental misunderstanding of who Cid Garlond is, and moreover, Nero crafted a lot of his own persona around an entirely one-sided rivalry with that person. So while the concern may be there, he is utterly incapable of articulating it appropriately.

BUT AT THE END OF THE DAY I adore these two fellows. I hope Cid finds some inner peace and the strength to do whatever he needs to do to approach it. I hope Nero finds somewhere to belong, where he can work on developing himself as his own person (a guy who, all things considered, MAYBE isn’t as bad as he thinks he is, yeah?).

And maybe in the end, they can all help each other out in some way.

I just did the Sigmascape opener (YES FINALLY) and BOY LET ME TELL YOU

Not only did I get the whole thing with Fraps, but I actually abandoned the quest right at the very end so I can do it again. And I’ll probably do it again after that.

But one of my favorite bits (there were too many)--the look on Nero’s face after Cid gives his sunglasses back. He is STUNNED.
