ED HERMAN WITH THE KNEE!!!
Drags Cummins down with the double collar tie right into the knee that lands right on top of the head. Puts Cummins away in the first round!
Corey Anderson dominates Patrick Cummins to UD win.
Anderson stops the skid. After suffering back to back KO losses, Anderson gets back in the win column in one-sided fashion.
Anderson was much less bouncy in this fight. He sat down on his punches, traded in the pocket, and threw in combination. And because unlike Villante and Blachowicz, he can go for 15 minutes so he didn’t get caught in the Cummins trap of beating him up for 4 minutes before gassing. Easy to forget (I sure did) that Anderson is only 5 years into his career so he should be making strides between fights. Unlike OSP and Manuwa, Cummins didn’t have the explosive, one shot power to really change the direction of the fight. He ended up getting out wrestled for 10 minutes instead.
I can't tell if Cummins got better on the feet or if he's benefiting from fighting quite literally the worst statistically defensive fighter in the UFC in Villante.
Patrick Cummins takes decision over Jan Blachowicz.
That was a fight. After an impressive first round, Blachowicz just fades hard. Cummins guts out the storm and just puts the pace on Blachowicz over the last two rounds. Takes the MD.
Jan Blachowicz vs Patrick Cummins, Shane Burgos vs Charles Rosa, and Katlyn Chookagian vs Irene Aldana all added to the DC-Rumble 2 card. Nicely matched up fights. Say what you want about the cards that fall apart this year (and how much of that is the matchmaker's fault is highly debatable), but the matchmaking in terms of competitive fights has been pretty damn spot on so far this year.
