Today I got a ride from Paul, founder of Paul City Heirloom Leather (www.paulcity.com). He's originally from San Jose and has been driving for Lyft for 4 days. On a peak weekend evening, he said he was pulling in about $30/hour. He used to drive taxis for 15 years in the San Jose area, then got scouted for modeling, moved to LA, then started designing women's clutches. He went back to school for leather design and Lyft helps him make some extra cash on the side while he launches his business. He drives for Lyft because "I like interacting with people and meeting people who could be in my demographic for buying my products, e.g. leather iPad holders."
