“leslie!”
Judy’s sweet voice rang throughout the household. There was a buzz floating through the air - for Leslie’s parents, it was a mixture of excitement and nerves. Leslie had never been good at making friends. Throughout her childhood, it seemed the only friends she had were her cousins - Marjorie & Rowan. With the new move, Judy and Bill were desperately hoping that Leslie would be graced with new luck.
“come on, sweetie. breakfast won’t wait forever!”
Quietly humming to herself, Judy swiftly moved about the kitchen. To hopefully calm the nerves of her daughter, Judy had prepared Leslie’s favorite breakfast - fluffy pancakes and scrambled eggs. It was a small gesture, but sometimes it’s the smallest of gestures that mean the most. That was typically how things happened in the Burke family.
“don’t you want to get lots of energy for your big day?”
Judy smiled at her daughter as she walked into the room. A big day was exactly what Leslie had in store - and Judy could only hope for the best. It was gut-wrenching that she couldn’t keep her baby wrapped around her arms, and not send her out into the world that seemed so cruel to her. But she had to be strong. She couldn’t give in - it’s not what’s best for Leslie. ( @paulocorde )
she’s silently tracing her fingers along everything she comes in contact with. the budding young actress had managed to land herself an internship at the white house - an honor marjorie had never expected to be blessed with. everything the grand white house had to offer was rich with history - there was so many stories to be told about each item. there was a sense of giddiness flowing through her body with each breath taken. how was it possible she had been given this opportunity?
❝ - it’s quite amazing here, is it not? ❞ marjorie had not bothered to even look up to see who she was talking to - all she knew was that she felt another presence in the room. there was no chance of the smile leaving her face; her excitement was simply far too great. marjorie had been taken to a room, waiting to be given her first task for her internship.
silence echoed around her for a moment, as she pondered all the possibilities that could possibly come her way. each new daydream was more exuberant than the one before, and marjorie’s excitement simply flourished. it wasn’t until another moment later that she finally turned around, expecting to face another lucky student who had scored an internship, or possibly even a staff member. the face she found took her by surprise, and she managed to jump back for a moment. ❝ - oh! i’m sorry. i - well i didn’t know you were here, mr. president. ❞ ( @paulocorde )
