How long before we start seeing cases like these for just being queer? Do we have to get to that stage for people to start to mobilize against this loudly?
We can't let the fight against internet censorship and puritan outrage against NSFW content be another controlled narrative by the right wing grifters.
I 100% did not expect the gov't to use the debanking executive order to point out unfair discrimination by banks against the adult entertainment industry but here we are. This is a wild broken clock moment
Remember Mastercard and Visa blaming "banking partners"? If banks face repercussions their alibis could start crumbling as they get pinched between angry consumers and the feds.
"The OCC’s preliminary findings show that, between 2020 and 2023, these nine banks made inappropriate distinctions among customers in the provision of financial services on the basis of their lawful business activities ... Sectors subjected to restricted access included ... adult entertainment, and digital assets."
The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) today released preliminary findings from its supervisory review of debanking activities
"'...Going forward, the OCC will hold banks accountable for these actions and ensure unlawful debanking does not continue.'"
I'm watching this with great interest. Keep calling your reps and paypros!
it's really good if you're getting engaged and worried about the movement to censor speech online! but...
do not worry about S.1671 - Interstate Obscenity Definition Act. I keep seeing people panicking about this. do not. don't waste your time.
"but it's really scary" yes and it's never passing.
the Interstate Obscenity Definition Act:
* is sponsored by Mike Lee, who has introduced thousands of stunt bills. none have passed.
* has zero cosponsors
* was referred to committee in May
* nothing has happened with it since
it's not a real bill and should not be a priority.
if you're getting involved (good!) you can and should learn how to look up the status of legislation, both for the federal government and for your state.
you can find Lee's dumb stunt bill, which again has not had any updates in a third of a year, here:
Summary of S.1671 - 119th Congress (2025-2026): Interstate Obscenity Definition Act
here is a list of bills that Mike Lee both sponsored, and have actually passed. you will note there are six of them, they're all shit like "rename this building the Atticus Childbridehaver Hospital", and these six are less than 1% of the 2000! bills! Lee introduced
Mike Lee, the Senator from Utah - in Congress from 2011 through Present
it's really good to get engaged but not if your whole engagement is consuming panic button posts, which I'm seeing a lot with both censorship and trans rights. you have agency here to learn about this legislation and whether it's actually a serious threat!
As many or if less of you've seen over the past week or so, I'm sure you've seen the kind of shit going around. I like many of you been afraid and concerned with a lot of it, but I am making a concentrated effort to help push an effort to spread awareness and more importantly, resources on how we CAN fight back against this. I know the feeling of defeatism all to well, but apathy will not help us. There ARE people who believe in change, that can help change, and believe there is hope to change. If you are TIRED of this kind of shit being pushed, you speak up. One bump, another bump, and a hundred bumps more. Spread the message where you can or tell people who are heavily affected by it, those who aren't as aware, but we have to work together to concentrate it to a bigger power.

Actually I don’t get with the paypros call stuff how come there hasn’t been an organized irl protest at any of their headquarters yet (unless some of them are highly guarded with security)
