The Microsoft System Configuration Utility, or MSCONFIG, is a special tool built into Windows designed to help you troubleshoot problems with your computer, and can also be used to increase your PC startup speed.
When you turn your computer on there are often hidden programs that load in the background. The more programs you have running when your computer starts, the longer it takes for your computer to start up. You can significantly increase your PC startup speed by disabling your PCs start up programs.
In Windows 7 almost all of Windows’ essential programs are loaded through Windows Services, so virtually every program on the startup list is completely optional.
