JAMES SPENDS TOO LONG STANDING IN FRONT OF THE DOOR. he’s still unsure of if he’s doing the right thing. making the decision to come had been hard, especially when he hadn’t told anyone about it. But he’d come too far now, had done too much research to let himself walk away without even talking to the Meadows women. He needed to know if they could really help him.
When he finally knocks, and the door opens, it’s like a whirlwind. He’s let into the sitting room by three women, and he explains about how he needs a potion, and they nod sympathetically and chatter amongst themselves while he sits awkwardly in front of them. he’s starting to wonder if he made the right decision. he knew he needed something to help him deal with Fleamont Potters death, and the rumours that the Meadows women could brew a potion to help with that was too tempting to not at least consider.
He’s distracted in his own thoughts, and the chatter of the women, too much to notice Dorcas when she comes into the room. But when he looks up to see her, he jumps. He didn’t know a lot about Dorcas, he’d seen her around and maybe exchanged a hello with her in the corridors - but he hadn’t expected to see her here. He hadn’t wanted to see anyone he knew here, even someone who was practically a stranger like Dorcas.
❛ what are YOU doing here ? ❜ james blurts out. he regrets that instantly. he should have said nothing, and hoped she didn’t recognise him. But he supposed it was too late now.
