bungee jump, i think so! i’m not terribly afraid of heights, and i’ve seen my mom do it, so c:sky diving, negatory. i work across the street from a privately owned airport (leased by the Fire Department and the nearby military base). there used to be a sky diving class (?) there. it was shut down just recently because of all the deaths. there’s an impact mark on the tarmac from a diver who’s chute didn’t open. 8I so, succinct to say i’ve been ‘turned off’ to sky diving. i mean, i guess both are pretty damn dangerous, but bungee seems a bit more.. controled?
What’s the biggest personal change you’ve ever made?
The decision of keeping Ava was certainly a big choice. My life is forever altered because I have a child to take care of. Not that I’m complaining, of course. But that’s certainly a huge change, I guess that counts as personal?
Also deciding to move away from home and to LA, and then back here, definitely also counts.
pdgraphics said: whats your prescription? i have a bunch maybe i can give you a pair if yours goes arwy
See, this eye doctor literally does not give me my prescription, sometimes. I think he tries to keep people away from 1-800 Contacts or something. But my special eyes demand their vision!
I will try and retch it from his hands next time, maybe, haha. I definitely SHOULD get in touch with him in the next week? But I just have so much going on, it feels like.
They are all behind the mystical cut! Thank you all for asking and giving me some stuff to ponder.
17. What would you absolutely refuse to draw?
Anything supremely morally offensive - things promoting or in any way glorifying pedophilia, rape, homophobia/transphobia, racial supremacy... you know, all of the common sense things we should really know are wrong. I also currently don't draw anything fully pornographic, but I can't say it's something I'd totally refuse to draw under any and all circumstances.
Other than that, I try to be open to suggestion! This question is hard to answer because I am sure there is more to it that I should include, I just can't think of it at the moment.
1. When did you get into art?
Apparently from a very young age, before I can actively remember! I used to draw "horses" or some rough equivalent of such in coloring books at 2 years old, until my mom got me just regular blank paper to draw on. By the time I was 5 I had an book I had written and illustrated in our local library about the dangers of deforestation, but I don't unfortunately think I have progressed much since then!
18. What is your purpose for drawing?
Geez, ah... Man, there's lots of reasons! Because I have always done it. Because it helps me connect with other people in ways I couldn't otherwise. Because I find the process enjoyable! Because it means I will never be without goals for improvement. Because I have all these ideas that I want to try and share with others, and drawing them out has never failed me, before. Like I said, so many reasons, haha, I couldn't even list all the things that make drawing something I HAVE to do. After going years without drawing anything of substance a while back (from a bad combination of physical and I suspect a bit of mental sickness) I realize how empty my life becomes without it.
SUPER DRAMATIC ANSWER, but it's fully true! Drawing (and writing, by extension) makes my life feel its fullest.
8. What is your favourite piece that you have done?
I couldn't even tell you why, but I'm still fond of this one from almost 3 years ago:
Even though the tone and subject matter are no longer relevant to the character, and some of the anatomy is super-wonked, I like that there are parts about it that were ambitious of me, for the time!
10. What do you like most about your art?
THESE QUESTIONS ARE SO HARD! Mostly I like making it, I like putting the lines down and having them come together into something (hopefully) recognizable. If I had to pick something concrete about my style, I do like that I am becoming more fluent with different body types and features, and I like the amount of stylization it has at this particular moment in time better than I have at any previous point in my development. There, that was quite positive, I think!
14. What do you like drawing the most?
Women! And facial expressions / body language.
15. What do you like drawing the least?
Anything non-organic - cars, sharp edges, technology... It's difficult for me to feel it out and have it make sense, it isn't one of those things where I have an image in my head but can't translate it... I can't even get an image in my head! I can't comprehend it. But I will KEEP TRYING!
19. What medium/program do you use the most in your art?
For medium, it's always simple mechanical pencil, but for program, it would be my trusty Photoshop CS4.
22. List at least one of your “artspirations.”
Hey, I will give you a list!
Jin Kim
Lauren Faust
John Pomeroy
Gil Elvgren
Yoshitaka Amano
I think that'll do it for the ones who come to mind first.

Pep made me an ornament of my character Roddy, once! If I could somehow get every character made into an ornament, I would have the best tree ever. They could hang out (ha ha) with all my unicorn keepsakes, broken globes, and baked goods related ornaments.
