Q . so how does kara feel about ywain being the one to reveal her witchcraft to arthur? : ))) is she surprised? or did she sort-of suspect it before it happened? from @pefensea
A . i’m not sure if surprised is the right word. she doesn’t exactly expect ywain to be the one to do it and i think on a family level there are definitely feelings of shock and betrayal, but i think there’s always been the sense that kara kind of always believed this day was coming one way or another. i also believe that her relationship with ywain must have been increasingly tense leading up to this. if kara had to pick one of their family to betray them, i think she would have to pick ywain: she’s always known that they have very, very different views of arthur that could not necessarily be reconciled. but it’s one thing to theorise which family member is most likely to betray you and another entirely for them to do it. given how widely known it is that kara is a witch — outside of camelot, her magic is common knowledge; within camelot, at best, it’s an unspoken fact rather than an actual secret. kara believes arthur is aware, only it has suited him up til now to ignore it and keep medrod on side. — she probably expected someone to say something eventually, but that was no more ywain than anybody else. so while there’s resignation at the situation generally, there is disappointment and betrayal at ywain being the one to break that status-quo, and would have much rathered it be almost anyone else. it’s one of the few true betrayals kara actually suffers and it hurts her. she also feels how the devastating the betrayal is for medrod, who truly takes it to heart, and also the impact it has on her friendship with laudine.
i also think, almost if anything, she’s more surprised that ywain reports her support of the gododdinian cause as treason to arthur, than she is by the charge of witchcraft. accusing her of magic could be construed as just a betrayal of her and one she saw coming if not from him. but though the actions are hers, she sees the accusation of treason as a more direct betrayal of medrod and their family and she doesn’t really expect that???
His sister was more than capable of handling her own, he would even go so far to say she could read people better than he could. In truth he had no doubt Edmund would treat his sister with anything less than what she deserved. His parents would not have agreed to the match if they had a shadow of a thought of otherwise. He sees the way her expression brightened when the Narian king was around. Kindhearted as she was, Amelia did not give her heart away with foolish ease. “You should know, if there is at all a hint of my sister’s unhappiness, you shall have me to deal with.” His tone is casual, though there is an undertone of seriousness. Edmund however did not need to know that Roman thought the chances of that were slim.

❝ … Smash for... both. ❞
( leave her alone )
🌌 + for lucy? sjkdf (also ... any of the others too, if you think of them sjfdsdfh)
lucy gives me swan song vibes in a weird way. the song is a retelling of swan lake but odette is a sentient space ship and seigfried is her captain. it’s the way she’s so headstrong and defiant and the part where they break into this triumphant instrumental when you KNOW the heroes are going to die on their own terms? lucy energy imo
edmund, however, makes me think of skin and bone. the album it’s in is a retelling of arthurian legend and in it mordred is trying to make peace between the townsfolk and the saxons who raised him and the saxons are reluctant to say the least. i just think of king edmund trying to make peace with the “dangerous” narnians and earning his title of the Just.
Her inner circle had always been small. Once six of them had all been under one roof. Four of her cousins, her brother and herself. Much of her childhood had been spent with them all together and then in a course of a single evening it all shattered and fell away. She had nearly lived as long without them as she did with them. And seemingly overnight that small circle had nearly doubled in size. On top of uprooting herself from the only home she had ever known. Though she had found warmth and love, a fairy tale she could only dream for considering the marriage for her had been an arranged one.
Edmund’s siblings too had been nothing but welcoming but she could see there was a wovenness between them that she did not quite fit into. Her mother of course had done her best to prepare her, but no amount of lessons could have prepared her for the times her heart ached for the familiar.

His words pulled her back and she realized she had spent far too long simply staring out into the distance. “Oh yes, I’m fine. Still adjusting I suppose.” She reaches out for his hand, taking it between her own. It was a moment before she looked up to him with a warm smile. “It’s nothing to cause concern.”
