PekoPeko!TV | EP.02 | Nikuman 肉まん
PekoPeko!TV are back and this week we went to Yokohama Chinatown (Asia’s BIGGEST Chinatown) for a food crawl! So lets talk about nikuman. This episode we covered:
Nikuman; niku means meat, usually pork mince. And man is short for manju/mantou which is a kind of Chinese bun with a filling in it.
Charsiewman; aka charsiew pau, a traditional Chinese dim sum with sweet BBQ pork on the inside. My childhood in a bun.
Butakakuneman; aka nikuman sandwich, aka the Shoryu bun, aka Hirata Bun. This was awarded our ‘Westerner’s Star of Approval’.
Anman; the ‘an’ is short for anko which means red bean. My favourite...
Kuriman; kuri means chestnut. We have been over this before. But this one had a whole chestnut in the middle! Isn’t that nice?
Ichigoman; strawberry flavoured inside. Sad panda outside.
Matchaman; green tea flavoured inside. Punched panda outside.
