This photo was taken by Gerardo Nasser during one of our Pelagic Safari expeditions in Baja California Sur. Even though we focus on swimming with sharks, we are always on the lookout for any type of activity. This time we were lucky enough to encounter these agile predators feeding on a bait ball. In the open ocean you never know what to expect. That's the beauty of these trips. This was the first static bait ball we found last weekend! It was during our second day of expedition. The action was pretty great on the previous day and we did find many marlin bait balls, but they moved quickly. If finding a marlin bait ball is a tough task, finding a static one is even harder. Why? Because most of the time there are no birds on top to tell you where they are. But once you find one, well... you can stay there watching this breathtaking spectacle forever.
