At the Mall
Went to the mall the other day, which is something we rarely do. I was surprised by how things change and how people stay the same. We saw so many people in all their genders and shades; families, shy couples, nervous singles, groups of bold college kids, and bolder teenagers leaning casually and milling about. We saw clothes and bags and shoes and sparkling jewelry. Cookies and coffees and the occasional tea. It could have been any year in any market or bazaar anywhere in the world. We also saw new offerings from Prada, Gucci, Armani, Guess, Levi's, The Gap, and smaller less popular brands too. We saw wide-legged acid jeans and tight-rolled indigo jeans. We saw so much that is "now" that we were unmistakably in the 2020s. 2023 to be exact, with an abundance of corona-inspired athleisure slowly being replaced with nostalgia for past preppy decades.
It was nice to get out and see so much acceptance. So many people in the mall having a nice afternoon. People who are different from each other. People being themselves.
