paddington is a sweet and wholesome little film which couldn't be improved upon, then paddington 2 is like they took all the perfection of the first film, distilled it, added a response to the post-brexit vote political climate AND a commentary on the prison system and the treatment of those deemed 'criminal' by the state, and then were like 'oh and as an added treat after the greatest movie ever made: gay hugh grant in a career-defining musical number which single-handedly throws every prison film into permanent obsolescence.' so yeah. i think they're pretty good
