I just finished season 2 of Bridgerton and I still feel very hopeful for Polin to develop romantically.
Aside from the comment that broke all of the Polin fans heart in S2 ep 8 there are lots of postives.
1-When Colin came back from Greece it was clear he wanted to embrace Penelope in a hug just as he had the rest of his family. He literally had to fight the urge to run over. At least we got that smile when he saw her which was amazing. It was clear he really had missed her.
2-When Penelope thought he had met someone in Greece he corrected her. He could have just changed the subject or just said he didn't meet anyone. Instead he decided to confide in her about finding himself.
3-Even when he swears off spending time with women he can't with her. He might still see her mainly as a friend but he values their time together too much.
4-Collin just smiles when he catches her eye in a ballroom or out in society. It's clear he is being his true self with her and not just polite.
5-Colin always seems to get giddy and excited to dance with Pen. Even when she is trying to hide in the sidelines he is always seeking her out for a dance. Even in S2 ep 8 and the revelation of the rubies when Penelope comes back in the room he just wants to dance with her.
6-Colin chooses to tell Penelope how special she is to him. He doesn't choose to say like a sister or anything like that. Clearly the joy of dancing and talking to Penelope comes through to others in the room. Or he wouldn't have been asked about his intentions to court her.
7-Colin claims to want to protect the Featherington family but the only one he has a bond with is Penny. Which means really he feels like he has to protect her and keep her safe. To have feelings like that you have to love the person,friend or not at the current time. I still think even if Eloise and Penelope won't be around one another Colin will feel like he has to keep checking Penelope is ok. Colin will soon realise how much he misses confiding with that one person he can have deeper conversation with.
I will hold hope for these two always. Just like in their book the character of Colin falls in love slowly. With small glances and conversation. Then when Colin finally realises he loves her he understands it had began years ago without even understanding that at the time. I mean if this is some of the stares we get with them now wait until he really is trying to be romantic with her.🥰
