WHAT?! I could never have guessed this from our conversations...

I think for me male authors have to prove themselves more, which is maybe a bit silly because both men and women can internalize misogynistic views and portray women in shallow ways, but there you have it. Also there’s a tiny resentful piece of me that thinks “well most men have never shown an interest in my genre so why should I show an interest in theirs?”--like, whenever my dad reads stuff I’ve written that’s aimed at teen girls he says it’s “not his genre”--and he means it so so well but there’s a part of me going “well men in the nineteenth and twentieth century being scared of god and the future isn’t my genre either but that didn’t stop school curriculums from forcing me to read their stuff”

ANYWAY I could fill a book with the tiny shards of resentment I’m still slowly picking out of my psyche but hey, required reading is a thing of the past for me now--mostly I’m just being a big whiny baby, hahaha

Thank you. Wrists are sort of worse this morning because they feel bruised. Hip isn't as stiff, though, so at least I can go out and about.

I'm so glad he's endgame; when I read the manga in full I finally knew true satisfaction. ;v; (or actually I didn't, because I really wanted semi-mature making out fics and there weren't any but HEY happy ending can't complain)

ANYWAY WITH TAMAKI IT'S LIKE... how badly he wants to be loved is HILARIOUS but it also absolutely slays you. if nothing else he wins the "love interest w/ personality most similar to a large overly affectionate dog" prize. I'm so glad he exists as an alternative to... well... most shoujo love interests, and most YA fiction love interests--basically anything aimed at teen girls.

(I can appreciate a broody bombshell here and there but honestly. tamaki. ANY DAY.)
