What’s the difference between Vimperator and Pentadactyl?

I’ve been using vimperator for a few months and loving it (although it makes it hard for me to go back to primitive mousery on others’ computers). I’ve seen that there’s a fork called Pentadactyl, but I can’t tell what the difference is. Is there any particular reason to use one over the other? Why was it forked?

I have an ergonomic mouse! \o/

I get wrist pains relatively easily from using the trackpad, and normal computer mouses aren't exactly the best for that either, so I got me a nice small left handed mouse for my b-day. It's great.

Also, I reinstalled Pentadactyl on my laptop. I highly recommend using Pentadactyl if you're prone to wrist pains, have a too small trackpad, or are just plain lazy and get annoyed by having to click on links that are at opposite ends of the web page. Pentadactyl basically maps everything you need to do while browsing to specific sets of keys. It takes a bit of time to get used to it, but it makes browsing a lot more easy and a lot faster. Basic commands include:

- 'f' will assign a number to every link on the page. Typing said number will open that link. If you want it in a new tab, it's 'F' - 't' opens a new tab, 'T' opens a new tab with the url of the current tab - 'H' will go back one page in your history - 'gt' goes to next tab - 'gg' and 'G' will bring you to the top and bottom of a page, respectively.

And everything is like that. I love it because it is extremely fast and convenient, and it allows you to use mostly the keyboard for browsing, which also saves you from wrist pains from using a mouse or trackpad too much.

… Plus it makes you look badass.
