#peopleforanimals Does the benevolent cow not have any say in how her life pans out? All animal slaughter is cruel. Indeed the cow is a gentle generous being that sustains all without discrimination- like a benevolent tree that gives of its fruit and shade. As a Lover of animals I've always had a special feeling of love for all animals but especially the cow. While a ban, to my mind, is Not the answer - it is indeed also a start toward Coercion, given the cruelty and violence - even murder of this bovine animal! Old habits, eating culture etc operate unless mindsets are transformed! The Buddha approach is I think the answer of non- violence to all! Teach, educate, sensitivise from childhood on to empathise and love all beings. Expose children to animals and love happens! Would they then easily slaughter & behead innocent defenceless creatures only for their personal pleasure?? The transformation will come from the wellspring of the heart and spread like a sweeping wave - let us start with this benevolent vote to ban murder! Already a great part of the world, compared to just 50 years ago,india is on halfway road to denying killing the benevolent cow! And people are more responsive to the message.
