Pepe’s Gonna Take Care Of Ya!
Anybody who’s shown a passing interest in our diligent work here at EFIR will know that pizza forms a large part of what gets pushed around our intestines. Long term fans will know that one our most favourite pizza memories came form the Walthamstow Spar, which we mysteriously stopped buying from...but why??? Because the replaced the fucking pizza kitchen with a flatbread kitchen! Who the fuck wants a flatbread over a pizza? Absolutely no one! So we were forced to move on, to get out hot cheese and tomato kicks elsewhere! Yeah it wasn’t so bad, if you scan our blog you’ll see we amply fill our pizza ration.
One day I was aimlessly walking through Walthamstow and ended up outside the aforementioned Spar, with a large chalk board exclaiming ‘PEPE’S PIZZA’! I couldn’t believe my eyes, I had to go in and confirm this. I knew before I’d even got to the back of the store that the pizzas were back, I’d know that smell anywhere. I took a closer peep and the reopened pizza kitchen boasted 33 pizzas to choose from, PURE INSANITY. I ran all the way home (I probably walked) to tell Robert, the prodigal son had returned! So we resolved there and then to make Pepe’s our next pizza pit stop.
So as we were having a decadent bank holiday wazzer we thought we’d grab some crispy slabs of dough to see if they could match up to our past triumphs. I ordered the garden pizza and Robert ordered the 4 seasons and guess what? They were fucking great! Our walk is a little longer home to our new flat, so there was the chilling fear that the pizzas would be cold and hard by the time we got home...but they were warm and delicious. Generous topping, fresh ingredients and what a selection to choose from. Pepe’s will be taking care of us from now on.
