If they refuse to leave he'll order takeout, so sometimes his family take over the kitchen deliberately, especially if he's in an experimental food mood.

He's a really physical person and it doesn't take much more than a hand at the small of his back to get him interested.He does not like being shoved onto his stomach without being asked first. Syrus does this thing where he shuts down for half a second and then snaps to attention. He's very practical and pragmatic in an emergency and he's been accused of being heartless more than once, but he doesn't take it personally if he can help it. He panics later, freaks out later. He doesn't have time when there's a crisis on.
