Study Break

The time seemed to tick by slowly. The minutes felt like hours to the girl. That was a rare experience for Xion. The girl is usually studious, focusing all her attention into the subject. Today though, it must have been the weather. Outside was sunny and still warm. The winter chill still lingered but it wasn’t as cold as expected. Either way, Xion didn’t want to be working on the group project. She would rather be skating, or dancing, even tennis sounded better than this! 

A small ‘hum’ escaped her lips. One hand was holding her chin up, the other tapping a pencil against the text book. Her mind was wandering and all hopes for finishing the group project was out of the question for the day.

Xion was partnered up with Percy, a fellow student in her class. She had hardly spent time with him before, maybe that’s why they were assigned together. Blue eyes looked up quietly to check on the other, maybe he was just as bored as her. Xion hoped so. She desperately needed a reason not to finish her work today. 

“Do you think we can finish this project in time?” The two had a ways off before the actual due date but Xion wanted to see where the other felt with the progress of their project.

“Oh, man.”

‘Oh man’ was right. It was kinda hard to convey the relief, plus the tugging uneasiness due to the fact he wasn’t the only one on their quest stuck here, in any sure number of words, so ‘oh man’ would have to do.

A devilish grin spreads across his face soon enough, hand waving in front of the other’s face as if to check to make sure he’s really there. Percy is here, not stuck in the deep pit that is Tartarus, and despite the shortcomings they had, he’d almost never felt anymore glad for anything. The wracking guilt is still present, but actually seeing the guy after his last vision of him was falling into a near endless sea of black...

Well. Let’s just say it didn’t seem like too much of a bad thing.

“Never thought I’d be so glad to see your salty mug, Percy.”

The worry is there, but it simply wouldn’t be Leo without badly timed humor.

“...So...You’re alright, right? You’re really alive and kicking and, you know, not dead. I’m not seeing some kind of ancient hocus-pocus Greek ghost, am I? You gotta tell me the truth, man.”
